JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 29, 2023) – Sound Payments announced today a new pricing structure for independent station owners that haven’t upgraded their pumps to support EMV. The new pricing structure lowers upfront costs, making it easier for many to get the job done without needing a loan or depleting capital.
“We are talking with station owners all the time and many of the ones that haven’t upgraded are concerned about the initial cost as well as disruption to their business,” said Andrew Russell, president of Sound Payments. “We can help in both of these areas – we can upgrade one pump at a time and our solution is very affordable.”
With the new pricing structure, upfront cost is $5,000 per station, whether it is four or 10 fueling points. The monthly cost to maintain the service is $45 per fueling point. The solution includes an IM20 payment reader for each fueling point, an A80 bridge for store connection, and an EMV upgrade kit and device deployment with boarding for each pump. Installation is an additional cost. Station owners can choose their own installer or the Sound Payments installation team.
The promotion also works in conjunction with the referral program for fuel suppliers, ISOs or other industry partners. Referral partners receive a $1,000 per station that results in an installation. Sound Payments is not a processor. ISOs can benefit from processing fees collected on new installations.
Many stations face fees for not being PCI compliant in addition to chargebacks from not being EMV compliant. Sound Easy Pump is one-third of the cost of comparable options and easily eliminates those fees and prevents fraud at their station.
The traditional cost of replacing pumps to accept EMV is over $18,000 per pump and downtime for the station, resulting in loss of business. Sound Easy Pump is PCI 5 compliant and PCI 6 ready.
Sound Easy Pump™ is a semi-integrated secure solution that can easily and cost-effectively enable EMV at the pump in a couple of hours or less. It supports contactless via card tap or NFC, QR code scanning, PIN-on-glass, remote key injection, MSR, and EMV chip and PIN.
